Priceless?

Remember those old MasterCard ads with the priceless punch line?  That's what came to mind as I made Christmas ornaments of the boys' hand and footprints over the weekend.

Salt $0.44

Flour $1.78

Food coloring ?  Had it laying around

Cheesy, right?!  But, I think these turned out so cute and are way better than anything I could have bought for  a lot more money.

Mixing some red food coloring into half the dough.

Dough is salt dough...1 cup flour, 1 cup salt, and less than 1 cup water.  Mix salt and flour, then gradually add the water and knead until the dough is stretchy and not sticky at all.  Then add food coloring or paint after it dries.  Bake in 100F oven to dry out...or air dry.

Feet were a lot easier than hands...they just wanted to grab the dough:).  Used a straw to make holes...once dry I will put a string or ribbon through so I can use the as ornaments!

Reflux strikes again...

The boys' acid reflux was under control until about 2 weeks ago...gradually getting worse since then.  Went to the doctor yesterday and they want to do some X-rays of the boys to see if there is anything else going on...  We go back to the pediatrician on Monday, so we can get more info...  I went by myself on Thursday, so it was too hard to manage both boys and think logically enough to ask the right questions. 

The boys did get a weight update...  They were both the same weight...  Where did my little preemies go?  13 pounds 12.5 ounces!   My little chunky monkies:). That's the 20th percentile for weight compared to a full term baby.

Yes, there are two babies in there...is what I have to say to everyone I run past...

Made it out despite a high of 43F...boys slept the whole time, so must have been warm.  Longest run to date postpartum...6 miles!  The second 6 mile run was last weekend and I was a whole minute per mile faster than last week!!  Go me!

Ben has learned he can move his head up and down in addition to side to side...it makes for fun playtime, but he is extra distracted when you are tribg to feed him:). Jack is almost doing the same, Jack on left.

Both boys have been giving us big smiles.  In fact, if you are feeding them and make eye contact, they smile big and all the milk dribbles out:)

Also in the last two weeks, they have begun to talk to each other...it is so cute!!  

Traveling

Our boys have been doing some traveling lately!  We visited Aunt Donna and Uncle Stan, Nana (their great grandmother!), and Gran.

Army 10-miler!!

So Mike survived the race and the boys and I had a decent weekend.  I am glad we made the trip...mostly to get me used to traveling with infants.  We brought a lot of stuff...but nothing we did not use and nothing too frivolous.  In fact, Ben had his longest sleep to date the first night in the hotel...he slept from 8:30pm until 4:45am.  Jack was up at 12 and 3, and I took the overnight feelings so Mike could get done pre-race rest.  I think I woke Mike up around 5:30...Ben slept so well he was not interested in going back to sleep.  And as with most first nights in a new place, I did not fall asleep easily, nor could I fall back asleep after waking to feed the babies.  Nothing a few cups of coffee can't fix...

Upon checking in to our hotel, Mike walked to a nearby grocery store to pick up some bottled water (the tap water tasted like the ocean...probably not good for formula mixing or pre-race hydration).  After buying 4 gallons of water, 4 vitamin waters, salad and salad dressing, and some ice cream, Mike remembered he had to carry it all about 5 blocks:). Not only that, but the vitamin water bag broke mid intersection on the way back.  Mike and the vitamin water all safely returned to the hotel:)

The boys' Godmothers came and helped me with baby duty during the race.  We missed seeing Mike and his brother run by, but we did make it out to cheer for some strangers:)
